Pacific Crossing Guide

This new edition of the established RCC Pilotage Foundation book is a complete revision:
Part I: Preparations has been updated throughout to reflect current cruising norms including satellite communications and navigation, and it has been expanded to include advice on atoll navigation, planning for cyclone season and highlights of Pacific culture and festivals. Advice on all aspects of preparations and ongoing maintenance is supplemented with links to useful websites for further resource.
Part II: Passage Planning details the seasonal patterns of Pacific weather . The web of possible routes across the Pacific is then broken down into logical sections to allow further discussion of expected weather patterns and timings and strategies for specific passages. New to this edition are Navionics chart images which are used to illustrate landfall harbours and anchorages.
Kitty van Hagen has brought all the combined knowledge that she and her husband, Simon, have garnered over 15 years of cruising the Pacific Ocean. Kitty's writing is borne from first-hand experience. She has been able to draw on her extensive network of fellow Pacific cruisers to enrich the book with new contributions from a number of specialists on topics such as health, communications at sea, weather and satellite navigation, as well as on details of some of the more challenging routes.
The book is also available in various electronic formats from Bloomsbury and Amazon.
