Pulleen Harbour, Bantry Bay, Eire

The description on page 142 of the ICC pilot is fairly accurate but the representation of drying areas on the Navionics chart is less so. There is substantially more water than appears to be the case. We anchored in the centre of the cove in about 4M at a point which Navionics claims dries. There appeared to be deep water all around but a group of drying rocks on either side of the small island (not apparent on the Navionics chart) leaving a narrow channel into the inner harbour to the east. The pilots advice to reconnoitre by dinghy before attempting the inner anchorage would be advisable. A substantial new quay is being built in the inner harbour which appears to have reasonable depth alongside it.
The attached sketch shows the observed drying areas in red, the new quay and where Pastime anchored in black.
