Clear transit and leading lights in well buoyed estuary entrance – follow closely AND beware of poorly marked pots in the channel up to Duncannon. Buoyed channel upstream but not always clear; use YELLOW buoys as port hand markers on passing power station (avoid red and green markers leading into small drying harbour just north around CHEEK POINT south side – head towards power station for main channel. Current varies across river reaching 3.5 knts at springs. Disturbed water (whirlpools where King and Queens Channel meet west of Little Island. Good berth on C pontoon (nearest bridge) in City Centre (phone ahead to Marina Superintendent (00353 87 785 0538) to reserve berth and get gate and shower codes, normally credit on electric pillars if not Marina officer will provide. Need phone number to activate gate from pontoon. City centre location and very close to tourist “Viking Triangle”. Strong current on pontoon with good depth (>3m) and room to turn in river. Very good visitors’ facilities with visit to Waterford Crystal Factory and Viking “Virtual Reality” exhibition highly recommended. Can pay over the phone if unable to link up with marina manager prior to departure.
