Port du Moulin Blanc, Brest

Change in navigation marks on approach to Moulin Blanc. New starboard hand buoy at 48°22'.53N 4°26'.73W. The port hand buoy at 48°22'.70N 4°26'.51W has been removed. Counter current on south side of River L'Elorn opposite entrance channel to Moulin Blanc is very useful (2kn at mid tide). The Port marker labelled “Moulin Blanc” represents the turning point into the marina channel. Plenty of water >3m close to marker with Port and Starboard markers marking channel close to marina as the bay opens up to port.

Self-service fuel berth available. Water on pontoons powerful and needs a male/male connector for hose. Boat lift appears limited to 12m due to configuration of lift pontoon; lift timing affected by tides for keel boats and booked through marina office.

Good bus service to Brest and City Tour bus stops at Oceanopolis – an excellent aquarium and well worth a visit; one free entry ticket with berth from marina office. Free bicycles available at the marina office. Excellent chandlery (NAVI OUEST) approximately 500m along the main road to Brest on the right-hand side at a roundabout … before reaching the sailmakers and biscuit factory!
