Mackaye Harbour

A capacious and well sheltered anchorage which on the South of Lopez Island which makes a convenient stop whilst waiting for a fair tide to pass through the San Juan Channel. Anchor in Barloy Bay in 5-8m with good holding on mud.

I proceeding from Barloy Bay to the San Juan channel it is possible to take an inside passage to the north of the off lying islands. However the channel is very narrow in places with strong tides, back eddies and a vicious rip off Davis Point, It should only be attempted in settled weather and ideally close to slack water.
