Tacoma is one of the USA's largest and busiest seaports and as you approach it from seaward you would be forgiven for thinking that this is no place for a pleasure boat to visit. However, you would be mistaken.
Between 2003 and 2006 the City of Tacoma spent over $100 million cleaning up the Thea Foss Waterway and turning it into a world class boating destination with modern marinas and walkways on both sides of he waterway, all of which are within 5-10 minutes walking distance of downtown and Tacoma's famed museums, of which the museum of glass is arguably the most unique and well worth a visit.
Yachts will probably wish to more north of the historic Murray Morgan lifting bridge to avoid the inconvenience of having to wait for a lift.
