We bid a fond farewell to long-serving volunteer Richard Marsh

Former Royal Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation webmaster retires after more than a decade of dedicated service

After more than a decade of dedicated service, the Royal Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation (Pilotage Foundation) says a heartfelt thank you and farewell to long-standing volunteer Richard Marsh, who has stepped down from his role as Webmaster.

Richard joined the Pilotage Foundation in 2011, taking on the complex task of managing and evolving its online presence. His contributions have been instrumental in modernising and expanding the Pilotage Foundation website, ensuring that valuable pilotage information remains accessible to cruisers worldwide. Notably, he oversaw the development of a new website in 2016 and played a key role in launching the Pilotage Foundation Cruising Information database in 2017—a crucial resource that continues to support safe sailing for the cruising community.

Beyond his expertise in digital management, Richard has had a distinguished career as a consultant anaesthetist and is a lifelong sailor. Now, he looks forward to spending more time at sea aboard Pastime, the yacht he co-owns through a long-standing syndicate of over 20 years.

Welcoming new Webmaster Katie Schuster
Stepping into the role of Webmaster is Katie Schuster, a fellow Royal Cruising Club member and the Pilotage Foundation’s Social Media Manager. Katie has already made significant progress in the extensive task of developing a brand-new website, ensuring that the Foundation’s digital resources remain up-to-date and user-friendly.

Exciting changes ahead – a new website coming soon!
With Katie at the helm of digital operations, the Pilotage Foundation is preparing to launch a completely redesigned website in the near future. This update promises improved accessibility and functionality, further enhancing the Foundation’s mission to provide high-quality cruising information.
